Our favorite places to stay, to eat, to shop, to play…
Restaurants
- Mercato-Osteria & Enoteca
Red Hook. Truly authentic and incredibly delicious Italian fare. Chef Francesco Buitoni (ciao Francesco!) is seventh generation from the famed Buitoni pasta family and “grew up in an environment where eating is breathing and food is air.” Seasonal, local, comfortable and impossible to beat. - Swoon Kitchenbar
Hudson. A fabulous neighborhood brasserie. - Wm. Farmer & Sons
Hudson. They may label it just a “Barroom”, but this stylish bar & restaurant has incredible sophistication and warmth. Once you sit down and enjoy the fabulous food, you may never want to leave. And since they also offer charming guest rooms upstairs, you may never have to. - Le Petit Bistro
Rhinebeck. The best French restaurant in the Valley. Warm and intimate. A great place to dine at the bar. - Market St.
Rhinebeck. Contemporary Italian in a convivial modern space. Chef/owner Giovanni Scappin is a most charming host. Big plus: Open every day. - The Local
Rhinebeck. Inventive fare with locally sourced ingredients. They call it Eclectic New American. We call it delicious. - Cinnamon
Rhinebeck. Proof positive that not all Indian food is created equal. We love their new location right in Rhinebeck Village. Modern, chic, and oh-so good. - The Corner
Tivoli. Located in Hotel Tivoli, we’re thrilled this casual dining spot is right across the street from our world headquarters. The wide front veranda is the only place to be in the Summer. Chef Devon Gilroy hails from NYC’s famed Chanterelle. The rabbit meatballs are to die for. - Plantae
Tivoli. You don’t have to be vegan to love everything that chef Raquel serves up. Healthy, inventive, plant-based, and just plain scrumptious. The vegan Mac & Cheese is to-die for (how does she do it?).
Hotels & Lodging
- The Barlow
Hudson. European style boutique hotel right on Warren Street. Sleek & chic with great linens and mod electric fireplaces. - Hotel Tivoli
Tivoli. The former Madalin Hotel, at Tivoli’s 4-corners, has been transformed, re-imagined, and re-opened as a modern 10 room super-chic hotel by artists Brice & Helen Marden. - Wm. Farmer & Sons
Hudson. Wonderful country-chic guest rooms, all charmingly different in decor. The best part of staying here is wandering downstairs to one of the best bar/restaurants in the Hudson Valley.
Entertainment
- Club Helsinki
Hudson. Dazzling live music venue in a beautifully renovated warehouse. Dine on fab food while you enjoy the shows. This is not your parents’ dinner theater. Check out our favorite “Helsinki on Broadway” nights, with Broadway stars performing cabaret at accessible prices.
Shopping
- NoSugar
Rhinebeck. The most fabulous clothing boutique for Women & Children. And the children’s and baby clothing are sophisticated and not too sweet (hence the name), with many unique brands from Europe. There’s no need to look like a country bumpkin in the country. - Joovay
Rhinebeck. Sexy lingerie (the only Hudson Valley store to carry La Perla), scrumptious loungewear, and the finest of fine things for women, all hand picked by our dear friend, Barbara Cooke. - de Marchin
Hudson. Chic boutique for men and women. Owner Paul de Marchin has an amazing eye. Be prepared to love everything. - Warren Kitchen & Cutlery
Rhinebeck. Chef’s-quality resource for cooks, and anyone setting up a new house or upgrading their kitchen equipment. Great cooking classes.
Nursery
- Phantom Gardener
Rhinebeck. All your organic gardening needs, with a great selection of plants, and a super friendly staff. - Northern Dutchess Botanical Gardens
Rhinebeck. A bit hard to find the first time, but you won’t regret the effort. Nestled into the woods outside of Rhinebeck, NDBG has 8 greenhouses and a bounty of perennials, annuals, ornamentals, and vegetables. Lots of heirloom varieties and the most beautiful hanging baskets. (But get a map online before you head out!)
Farm Markets
- Black Horse Farms
Athens. The place to find farm stand produce, fantastic fruit pies, plants, trees and nursery items. Chelly can tell you which plants the deer won’t eat. - Rhinebeck Farmer’s Market
Rhinebeck. The premier Hudson Valley farmer’s market on Sundays 10am-2pm, Memorial Day through Thanksgiving. Great produce, organic meats, and a bustling social event. - Montgomery Place Orchards
Red Hook. The charming roadside farm stand on the edge of the Montgomery Place historic site. Absolutely the finest local fruits and vegetables, most grown right there at the historic farm. - Sawkill Farm
Red Hook. Grass-fed meats and pasture-raised chicken and eggs. All from a picture-perfect farm with a chic farm store ’round back.
