Testimonials for Martin Salerno

My husband and I are in the process of buying our first home in Catskill and have been looking off and on in the Hudson Valley for about a year. We were pretty green at first. Our budget wasn’t huge and although we met other realtors, often times we were not taken seriously. Luckily we met Martin Salerno, who is an anomaly and an absolute pleasure to work with. Cannot say enough great things about him! He is professional, thoughtful, a strong negotiator, knowledgeable about the market/area, and is just an awesome person to collaborate with. He genuinely believed in our vision, adding to our sense of excitement and confidence in what can be a daunting process at times. Not only is he encouraging but he goes above and beyond. Throughout the home buying process, he kept us up to date with emails, gave us lots of good advice, advocated for us in some tough situations, and even helped push our car out of a steep snowy driveway! He is a remarkable realtor and person. He introduced us to a few other lovely working professionals and believe it or not, we actually had some fun during the inspection! We feel so lucky to have met and work with Marty! We highly recommend working with him! ~ Heather Cetto & Andrew Smith

I am writing this testimonial on behalf of Martin Salerno who made the experience of buying a second home in the Hudson/Catskill area a true pleasure.

When I decided it was time to buy a second home in upstate New York I spent several weekends driving around with friends to explore different areas. As I focused on the Hudson/Catskill area, I met Martin Salerno who came recommended by several friends who were weekenders and knew him on a social level.

Martin was friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly low pressure. In just one conversation, I was convinced he was the broker for me! I told him my priorities were to be close to Amtrak, access to a decent sized farmer’s market, great antique stores and a few nice restaurants. That said, he saved me so much time by focusing our search on just a few towns.

At first, Martin gave me a good understanding for the range of properties based on my tight budget that were out there. However, after another conversation he suggested a small ranch that was in foreclosure. To be honest, I never thought of buying a foreclosed property, having been told they can be nightmares. Most brokers usually push their clients to the upper limit of their budget while he actually suggested buying at a much lower price point.

After a short search, we found the perfect little house well below my original budget in the town of Athens. He literally helped me thru the entire process making things so understandable and easy. I saved so much money on buying my “foreclosed” place that I am using the difference to install a new kitchen, upgrading the bathroom and landscape the property with money to spare!

Since closing Martin has also been a great resource for finding a plumber, electrician and even recommended what water heater I should buy. He has a wealth of local information to offer his clients far beyond just buying a house!

That said, I would highly recommend Martin to anyone looking to buy, sell or even rent a place in the Columbia/Greene/N. Duchess County areas. He really made the process for me affordable, stress free and easy. Many thanks Marty for all your help!” ~ Michiel Roesdi
